“Apartments in Pergamou”, Glyfada, Greece

The primary character of ”Apartments in Pergamou” residential project, derives from the repetition of horizontal concrete slabs and slender vertical columns, establishing a clear structural grid that organizes the building while giving each level a distinct architectural identity.

Rather than being treated as a compact, enclosed volume, the building is articulated through a sequence of recessed spaces, terraces, and deep cantilevers. The resulting composition creates a layered façade with pronounced depth, where solid and void alternate across the elevations. This allows the structure itself to become the principal architectural expression.

The exposed concrete frame provides a consistent material language throughout the building, while large glazed openings introduce transparency and visually extend the interior spaces towards the exterior. The vertical elements create rhythm and proportion, simultaneously defining privacy, shading, and transitions between indoor and outdoor areas.

Variations in the depth and arrangement of the terraces prevent the repetitive structural grid from becoming rigid, producing a dynamic composition across the façade. The upper levels gradually step back, giving the building a lighter profile and emphasizing its horizontal character.

Overall, the architecture balances structural clarity with spatial openness, creating a contemporary residential building in which proportion, repetition, depth, and materiality define its identity.
