H_131, Glyfada, Greece
The H131 private residence, nestled in Glyfada, Athens, Greece, occupies a 1,099.11 m2 plot.
A notable architectural feature of the building is its curved elements, which envelop and encircle the structure, serving both as morphological components and projecting balconies. Anchored at the balcony edges, these elements ascend vertically, complemented by horizontal metallic fixtures that double as shading devices. This interplay creates a dynamic visual effect with the solid curved projections.
Another distinctive element is the design of the balconies, which are isolated, lending an airy quality to the overall architectural composition. The building’s form incorporates projections and recesses, while balcony lengths are carefully adjusted to ensure the residents’ comfort. Large openings facilitate seamless integration between the interior and exterior spaces. To add softness to the building volume and enhance the simplicity of the forms, an “off-white” color palette is employed across all facades and materials.
Additionally, a semi-transparent section of the enclosure, mirroring the design logic of the projecting balconies with a blend of compact curves and horizontal metallic elements, along with extensive landscaping in the front yard and other open areas, creates a subtle yet discernible boundary between the public communal area and the private space. This feature not only accentuates the building’s unity but also contributes to environmental optimization and enhances the aesthetic appeal of the surrounding natural and built environment, ultimately elevating the quality of life in the urban setting.
