“Athens Triton”, Helliniko, Greece
By drawing inspiration from the natural surroundings, a contemporary architectural composition emerges, characterized by a cohesive organic design that seamlessly integrates elements of water and greenery. At its core, this architectural concept explores the notion of organic spatial design, advocating for the harmonious blending of buildings with their environment. The goal is to achieve a symbiotic relationship between the constructed landscape and the natural world, resulting in structures that appear as if they belong naturally to their surroundings.
Emphasizing the importance of site-specific design, the overall architectural form is crafted to reflect the inherent qualities of the location, including its topography, climate, vegetation, and cultural context. Rather than imposing rigid geometric shapes, the organic architecture of the new buildings aims to create structures that blend harmoniously with their surroundings, respecting the natural features of the environment and contributing to the cohesion of the landscaped setting.
Central to the design are two solar atriums incorporated within the outline of the three buildings. These atriums serve to enhance the infusion of natural light and maintain continuous permeability, offering clear sightlines to and from the recreational areas. Additionally, water features with organic shapes adorn the ground level, particularly along Etta Street, acting as “decompression” elements that provide a sense of separation from the surrounding space. Within the framework of organic architecture, the landscape is regarded as an integral aspect of the building’s design, with efforts made to highlight and integrate the natural elements and unique characteristics of the environment.
