“Faos Exclusive Suites”, Mykonos, Greece
The project is situated in Mykonos, Greece, occupying a plot of 946.74 square meters.
Drawing inspiration from the traditional architecture of Mykonos, the composition blends traditional elements with contemporary features. The design embraces certain idiosyncrasies, particularly in the uniformity of building volumes and their boundaries. Existing structures on the plots are preserved, maintaining their original form and size or undergoing minor alterations and expansions in the new proposal. This synthetic approach aims to both honor the traditional architecture of Mykonos and introduce distinctive features to the existing buildings.
Central to the new composition are the repeated atriums, characterized by the shape of the defining walls, which complement and strengthen the existing design. The varying heights of these walls, along with their relationships with the existing buildings, emphasize the unique characteristics of Mykonos’s architecture, creating a distinctive form that envelops it.
The building volumes are divided into sections that interact with each other, defining the broader spatial context of the hotel. The pathway-perimeter around these sections is delineated by the walls and the shapes of the atriums and buildings, creating a cohesive network that connects all the sections together.
