H_57: “Coral”, Agia Paraskeui, Greece

The H57 block of flats is located on a plot of 1366 m2 in the area of Agia Paraskeui.

The architectural design thoughtfully considers both the present condition of the area and its future development. In this pursuit, a synthesis of a distinctive and contemporary architectural language has been crafted, aiming to establish a landmark in the Agia Paraskevi region. The central concept of the design draws inspiration from the serene nature of sea corals, resting harmoniously on the seabed, intending to imbue our building with a sense of tranquility. This design approach is rooted in the geometric formations and volumes found in nature, resulting in an organic and harmonious architectural style.

The incorporation of thin, curved plates stands out as a defining feature of our composition, imparting a dynamic and lightweight character to the construction. Another noteworthy aspect of our design is the partitioning of the apartments, strategically implemented to facilitate a seamless transition between them, evoking the imagery of coral.

With a commitment to sustainable development and a fundamental philosophy of establishing a symbiotic relationship with the environment, the design emphasizes the prudent use of natural resources and harnesses renewable sources during the planning phase. Local climate data played a crucial role in this endeavor. Utilizing solar energy for winter heating and leveraging cool winds in the summer for natural cooling are key elements of our approach. The orientation and placement of the building have been meticulously considered to maximize the benefits of the local climate.
