O33, Athens, Greece

The building retains all existing floors while adding two additional floors and integrating a usable roof with a green roof. The new structure, named “O33,” is designated to accommodate the offices of the company “ERMA FIRST.”

The central concept revolves around creating a luminous and transparent envelope enveloping a sizable garden that transforms into a theater of shadows. At its heart, the building features a spacious atrium that floods both the floors and the underground levels A and B with natural light.

Comprising two layers, the building consists of an Exterior shell comprising fixed and sliding polycarbonate panels in a milky white hue, functioning as passive solar systems, and an Interior shell equipped with a sliding window system made of transparent glass.

Internally, a garden hosts oval-shaped offices, meeting rooms, and various other spaces. These offices, tailored in different sizes to meet departmental needs, are strategically dispersed within the garden. Encased in glass walls, they offer views of the garden’s foliage or the exterior surroundings. A significant architectural element is the atrium, which bathes both the floors and the underground levels in ample daylight. The reception area serves as a “hub” of the garden, guiding visitors into the subterranean office spaces and adding a touch of theatricality to the building’s dynamics.
